Survived With My Sense Of Humour Intact

Watched a political satire today, I know who it is aimed at

and I hate such a way of belittling other people - the one

being so nasty and self-congratulatory has fallen from my

good books forever, I shall not even mention the movie

 

As that would give it media attention which it does not

deserve for attacking people I admire, trying to make

others look bad and presenting religion as stupid and

sad, is prejudiced behaviour revealing the perpetrators

 

As hateful and unprincipled, luckily I survived & chuckled

a lot, though it was for the thinly veiled political caricatures,

not the silly plot - glad we got this out of the way - and I was

duped into taking out books presenting sensitive subjects

 

With all the aplomb of a chicken where a feather would

have sufficed - à la Terry Pratchett - the author must be

smirking as she is lurking at the side of her characters

revealing them as exploited beings in this reader’s eyes

 

Once again I survived her version of vermilion shades with

my sense of humour intact, I hope every intelligent reader 

gives her books short thrift also because that is all they deserve…

Cohen The Barbarian

If my dad were Cohen the Barbarian I could be his

daughter, Conina, once Cohen mixed turpentine and

cane by mistake and took a swig, swallowed, all of

it  - for weeks afterwards he tasted turpentine in his

 

Mouth, but he didn’t die, the thought amuses me so

much - just as doctors feed whisky to all those who

imbibed anti-freeze, to keep the liver from processing

the toxin; cane prevented Cohen’s liver from trying to

 

Break down the turpentine, Cohen’s tricks were awful to

all those living in his house - but in retrospect, it is so

funny to reflect on them & Cohen had questionable

friends of course, promising him certain death if he

 

Dared to divulge their scams to insurance companies,

as Conina I marvel at Cohen’s innocence among the

accomplished crooks  - and hope in the non-physical

realm Cohen has received instruction on becoming

 

A moral human being…

One Of The Lancre Witches

Finally made peace with the fact I’m so old I can only

attend a Diskworld get-together as one of the Lancre

witches, satisfied with my wearing long black tights I

felt set for my role until I noticed my big toe peeking

out left and right feet - the tights are very old indeed

 

And realised that putting together a witches’ outfit will

take a lot more trouble than I’m willing to go to, besides,

I cannot be satisfied with being Goodie Whemper or

Gammer Brevis, I’d like to be Lady Time - but then

Wen the Eternally Surprised will be wasting my time

 

Lobsang Ludd would be a demanding son - so maybe

I can play at being Lily Weatherwax, that ought to be fun,

if only Susan - Death’s granddaughter - were old enough,

I could be riding around on Binky, Death’s excellent horse

while ordering curry up high near the sun...

If Akashic Records Exist

We seldom meet new people, when we do, I’m easily

impressed when the person does some extra reading,

we conversed about spiritualism and Buddhism - but

when the conversation derailed, I couldn’t fathom what

my new acquaintance meant, I said I loved the idea that

 

Everything is conscious and aware; meaning every sub-

atomic particle from iron to flowers, and he replied Yes,

then refuted everything I said about universal and inter-

subjective consciousness, indicating superficial reading

of spiritual material - now it has been revealed belatedly

 

That our new acquaintance has issues with aggression &

I’m disappointed in my lack of insight into character, the

person had such great taste in interior decorating - and

furniture - but anger and extravagance with the help of

nicotine & Bacchus made a normal lifestyle impossible

 

For him, a lesson learned: when a face shows that much

wear and tear, it strongly indicates spiritual wear & tear

and psychological damage also, he seemed to be a kind

person entertaining extravagantly and lavishly, quite out

of the ordinary - indicating lack of restraint - I’ve no right

 

To be disappointed in him, his heart may be pure gold

underneath the psychological defects caused by life’s

events we know nothing about, we shall never see him

again as he disappears and I’m left wondering what on

earth has really happened to him - if Akashic records

 

Exist, I shall consult them in the non-physical world…

A Fire-Spewing Dragon [Rev]

Sitting in a deep, dark dungeon without the sun,

clouds, milky and grey - threatening rain which

doesn’t come, headache which won’t go away,

& Lord of the Crocodile Castle has turned into

 

 A fire-spewing dragon because he’ll have to wait

a month long for new glasses - while, as a local

crocodile, I fail to entertain because everything he

hears & sees is irritating - I’m forbidden to use

 

Key words that bring happiness - I am muzzled

and hibernating - only BBC animal programmes

bring relief - and the Kalahari desert has strange

fairy circles where no grass will grow & Sir David

 

Attenborough is whispering about this - adding a

bit of sparkle to this boring, stifling grey day, I had

better Google these interesting phenomena and

start chasing this mystery - it might lift my spirit

 

Out of depression into a realm of bliss…

Integrity Will Be The Real Winner [Rev]

Integrity - everybody knows what integrity is, make a movie,

make a series, describe a hero with nobility and give him a

sidekick who has issues - but is striving towards honour and

you have a winner, we hang on their lips, watch their every

move, enjoy every gesture and word - corruption is the real

evil and probity the real winner in all issues everywhere

 

Though corruption is synonymous with politics, the world

runs on integrity & outside the corrupt power circles normal

human beings are living life with morality intact, they say that

10% of all people are incorruptible & another 10% are totally

corrupt, and the 80% in between these extremes are neutral

and will follow the group that leads - but ALL groups love

 

decency and all stories that illustrate this concept graphically

are the most popular - which shows that though it looks as if

corruption is set to win, in the end integrity will be the real

winner and it has always been…

This is why the Harry Potter series is so immensely popular

and the Diskworld series by Sir Terry Pratchett is the most

marvelous reading matter there is, if the subject matter does

not teach or paint a picture of beauty, I’m not interested

 

People being nasty or suffering pain is not fun, entertainment

glorifying the empty lifestyle of unthinking, greedy people is a

waste of time, we choose our friends carefully and reading

matter even more so as these images and ideas accompany

 

Us into eternity and I wouldn’t teach my brain that jealousy

and ugliness can be deemed okay - humour and absurdity

are fine within the confines of enjoyable comedy, of course

A Day Of Benediction And Razzamatazz

This is a day of benediction, I feel so blessed having

housework to do and ENJOYING doing it, feeling my

heart singing within me - ‘Alice in Wonderland’ on my

laptop screen and memories of joy in my mind of the

 

Best times in my childhood when grandma Alice and

us did housework - cleaning everything in sight, with

photographs of The Duchess & me carrying baskets

around, I’m  wearing Tom Thumb’s old rugby shorts

 

And never realized clothes and money were in short

supply, for the school's yearly class concert I borrowed

Tom Thumb’s Sunday suit to be the announcer in our

show and I inherited the Duchess’ Sunday gowns -

 

I wonder what she had to wear then, maybe I’ll never

know - I was walking around in the ill-fitting clothes of

the Queen of Hearts when I was summoned to help a

well-to-do friend to study for class - and she never

 

Invited me again - now I understand, but it makes me

laugh - I had so much fun, clothes did not bother me -

except when they were too big, and today I’m having

just as much of a good time, reading in between
