A Cheetah Walking Away

This morning at sunrise I looked around, a hippo was

happy to catch the sun while almost immersed in the

river, the baboons in their cavernous tree and its thick

trunk with holes that allows them to slide down, were

still fighting- as we left I saw 2 lilac breasted rollers

And a young elephant, a cheetah walking away from

us in a cheeky goodbye that made us determined to

return next year for more adventures with the animals

in the Kruger National Park, at home when we told the

kids about seeing the giraffe being eaten by a lion

They laughed when we explained it was too gruesome

to stop and take photographs - next year we might do

better - we’ll remain immobile for longer periods as we

learn to relax into the beauty of nature & not drive too

fast looking for the Big Five when small animals are

All around us: zebras, blue wildebeest, impala & the

banded mongoose will be quite enough!
