[Diary Notes]
No wonder Marilyn Monroe complained she felt unhappy
most of the time, this
movie made in 1959 did not make
her look divine, so far
to go before comedies would evolve
into something less
asinine, wish we could tighten the script
and shorten the
dialogue, the introductory scenes are too
long and the scenes on
the train an embarrassment, later
The pace picks up, but the
sequined dress they made her
wear when she sang her
signature song is unflattering and
does not tighten her midriff
- she complained she couldn’t
sleep at night and it
must have been the memory of that
scene that kept her awake,
later on producers gave her a
few full-face screen
cameo shots in which her face has a
Luminous quality & a
screen test for a last movie, which was
never made with her in
it, showed her trim and accomplished,
pity she lost her life too
soon – she was a great actress in the
making - not just a beautiful goddess of love…
