This Picture Reminds Me of Heathcliff...

... in Wuthering Heights, though he probably did not
have a beard - maybe that should have been our
assignment in English Literature: To find suitable
illustrations for the novel, instead of dissecting it,
until all its entrails were exposed and its beauty
spoiled - literature as a subject is EVIL, all
lovers of good stories beware!

Did you also suffer the indignity of cutting open and dissecting beautiful novels, killing the spirit and essence? I think every study of prescribed books should be based on projects to find suitable illustrations - the lecturer would soon see who read by the type of pictures chosen! And I would prefer different illustrations for the Disc World Series by Terry Pratchett; the mad drawings we see published are driving me nuts!
