A Life-And-Death Situation

Springboks against the All Blacks - 13 August 2022

Some spiritualists insist that life has one overarching

purpose: experience, to feel what it’s like to feel itself,

to overcome challenges and have adventures, and if

they are right, today will be a wonderful experience of

exuberance: the challenge when two groups of mighty

warriors engage in a battle which inspires their nations

with energy and joyful expectation - the unenlightened

Calls this a ‘rugby game’, but for those in the know it’s

a life-and-death situation - fifteen of our best warriors

against fifteen of the best the enemy has to offer and

for a while the whole world reduces to an adrenaline-

filled space in which life offers experience of the here

and now where there is no tomorrow; this is what man

was made for: competition - using ALL our powers to

Their optimum - the reason the world was created, this

is the dance within the universe that makes the living

choose Manifestation over the Nothing of Non-being

The Springboks lost, now we experience the exquisite

pain of loss - everything is lost: pride, hope, dreams -

supremacy; I don’t like it - but it is the only way we can

crawl back to the joy of winning, practising and another

game coming, the pain of failure is part of the process…
