Listened to Radio Pretoria tonight, took
us back sixty years in the past, oh, the
communists, just like Guareschi’s Little
World of Don Camillo, complaining about
socialist inefficiency
Happily ignoring the fact that capitalism is
alive and well in the South Africa of two
thousand and nine, people out of touch
with reality, the same smothering self-
centeredness that irked me at school
The same euro-centrism that strangled my
spirit at university, the enlightened thinkers
and philosophers blazed a trail of survival
that enabled me, white Afrikaner, to breathe
freely, embracing all races
Enlarging my views, I discovered Eastern
spiritualism holds the answers lacking in
cold, self-congratulatory Calvinism, over-
comes the destruction of Catholicism,
shows the true way of the soul
Read “Rape of South Africa” while still at
school, broke away and realized our racial
diversity is the saving grace, now Radio
Pretoria wants to return to the Middle
Ages, how discouraging that some
People are stuck in the past forever and
never move on…
