I love the Electric Sun Theory maybe because it is new,
maybe because it is a controversy, and repressed by the
current scientific high priests for fear of losing their funds:
Ralph Juergens' hypothesis is that the Sun and stars are
electrically powered (contrary to idea the Sun is powered
by nuclear fusion) a theory called The Electric Sun, part of
Non-mainstream Electric Universe world view and in 1972
Juergens wrote an article reconciling celestial mechanics
& Velikovskian catastrophism, sun and planets electrically
charged, sun as focal point of a cosmic electric discharge
which is the source of its radiant energy (Velikovsky never
accepted Juergens' theory, thermonuclear theory seemed
Sound to him) but an electrically powered Sun is based on
Velikovsky’s idea electromagnetic forces played a role in
sculpting the surfaces and shaping the orbits of the solar
system bodies and Charles Bruce’s theory that the stellar
atmospheres are described by electrical discharge model;
Juergens electrified cosmic bodies & their interactions -
They are charged objects immersed in an electrified fabric
universe, charges appearing on cosmic bodies arose from
separation of positive ions and electrons on a galactic scale
[This reads as wonderful and interesting as Terry Pratchett
to me, I adore the sun as an electric phenomenon, it’s fun!]
