What Life Was Made For

[Diary Notes]

Marvelous fun to watch the film Red 2 with Bruce Willis,

Helen Mirre and Catherine Zeta-Jones, made in the grand

tradition of films where the protagonists never die, doesn’t

matter where they go or what they do - and I love it, if it is

reality I want I’ll read the newspaper, movies must present

fairytales with symbolism and beautiful endings, in Red 2

The action never stops and I’m all agog, love the way Bruce

Willis wins every skirmish and Catherine Zeta-Jones plays

a secret Russian agent with a penchant for Bruce Willis -

while Mary-Louise Parker looks on enviously, their friend

Marvin Bogg – love the symbolism: Marvin the Paranoid

Android from Douglas Adams “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To

The Galaxy” and Bogg - bogged down all the time by his

paranoia – warns them against coming disaster all the time,

wonderful to see Helen Mirre shooting soldiers while her

Russian lover looks on commenting incongruously on her

pointing her toes as she mows down innumerable soldiers,

Anthony Hopkins with his undeniable Hannibal Lecter-air

Is the master physicist getting ready to bomb the whole

World; Bruce Willis saves Mary-Louise Parker after his

paramour Catherine Zeta-Jones died in his arms – what

wonderful humour; how we laughed and rejoiced watching

this – this movie is what life was made for!
