Expressing The Amira-Effect

Comment on Daniel Mills - #08 MY SONG

There is progress in this poem, the poet

points out he feels restricted in his life, he

is in a cage, but then he qualifies - when

Amira sings, the world seems to grow as

Big as a stage, her voice sets the poet free

from his limitations to feel part of the bigger

world - then the whimsical explanation that

songbirds fall silent when Amira sings, but

Amira calls them back to be with her which

illustrates her love and respect for all of life

symbolized by the birds & also she always

allow her singing partners to shine - then

Follows the most important ending, the poet

was a singer once, but cannot sing anymore,

yet he can hum with her and so her singing

becomes his own song, a glorious statement

Describing how Amira's voice inspires others

also to feel her silken tones & rich lower notes

ringing through our being while her personality

shines in her luminous eyes and her masterful

Vibrato which is an exploration of micro-tonals

around the center of each note filling our hearts

with new meaning - the phrase - “Now Amira is

my Song” is an explanation of this experience

And becomes a beautiful key which unlocks the

feeling creating the emotion, thank you Dan for

expressing the Amira-effect so beautifully!

#08 MY SONG by Daniel Mills

She placed me in a gentle cage

Where all the world's a wondrous stage,

Where one sweet Princess comes to sing

And fill our hearts with everything

That's beautiful and pure of sound.

And people from the world around

Drop what they're doing just to hear

Amira sings in tones so clear

That ringing bells could not compete

With her pure voice, so clear, so sweet

That nightingales, canaries and

The other songbirds in the land

retreat in envy. Goal Amira

Call them back. She wants them near --

A background chorus for her voice.

And songbirds everywhere join!

To sing with her would be a dream

Worth realizing, but I seem

A bit too old now, lost my voice.

And so I have no other choice --

I listen to her, hum along,

So now Amira is my song
